Media Systems Executive Director Yana Yanikyan recently spoke about the launch of YouTube monetization in Armenia during an interview with Radio Sputnik Armenia (“Other News” program), highlighting the strategic impact of this long-anticipated development on the local digital ecosystem.
According to Yanikyan, YouTube monetization is not simply a technical update, it is a market-shaping milestone that opens a new chapter for both content creators and advertisers in Armenia. With monetization now available through YouTube’s official system and without intermediaries, creators can generate revenue directly, while operating within a transparent and regulated framework. As with any advertising activity, generated income is subject to taxation, further integrating digital content production into the formal economy.
Yana Yanikyan emphasized that the entry requirements are realistic and accessible: 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours within the past 12 months, or 10 million Shorts views within 90 days. For moderately active and strategically managed channels, these benchmarks are achievable and create tangible growth opportunities.
She also underlined an important industry principle: quality content requires sustainable funding models. As she noted, audiences who expect high-value, professional content must also accept advertising integrations as part of a balanced digital ecosystem.
For advertisers, this shift creates new possibilities for performance-driven and brand-focused campaigns within Armenia’s growing YouTube environment. The development aligns with Media Systems’ broader vision of combining innovation, strategic media planning, and performance optimization to deliver high-impact digital solutions.
